Guildford Cathedral

Clare and I got cultural tonight, attending Guildford Choral Society's performance of Handel's Israel in Egypt.

We were a bit apprehensive on reading in the programme that the work bombed on its first performance and was subsequently "improved" ... however we were to hear the original version.

As it turned out, we enjoyed it and couldn't see what all the fuss was about in 1739. Mind, it was enhanced by being in Guildford Cathedral: one of my favourite 20th century buildings.
