Poppies

The little memorial garden between the cathedral and the High Street has it's annual wreaths and little poppy crosses after Sunday's big service in the cathedral which is organised by the Royal British Legion every year. A few miles down the road in Chatham is the base of the Royal Engineers and the men listed on the memorials here and inside the cathedral are mostly from their ranks.

The most touching are the little crosses with their notes from loved ones. Many of them are the more recent deaths in the Gulf wars or Afganistan.
