Ireland's Lake District

This picture is one of the reason's why I feel guilty if I ever complain about my three-daily commute to Dublin for work. I pass this lake scene on those days, and each time it looks different, depending on the time of year, light, weather etc.
This glassy stillness of Blessington Lake in the morning is what sets me up for the day. Despite the fact that I was late for work. I could not pass it this morning knowing that my camera was in the car. So I thought I would share it with you blippers.

(Blessington Lake is a reservoir built by the State in 1940. It submerged over 5000 acres of farmland and bog, as well as the homesteads of some 70 families. Occasionally, as in 1978, the waters of the reservoir fall far enough that the walls of the houses, the piers of the bridges and the track of the old bohreens become visible once again. Some of the people who lived in the area as children are still alive today. In time, however, these direct links with the area now flooded will also disappear)
