Let the great world spin

Yes, they're ugly and they muck up the flight paths of birds, but most of County Durham has been desecrated for more than two centuries by the deep scars of coal mines, quarrying and landfill. I drive past these every day and sometimes their great scything shadows sweep silently across the road along the moors. Rather these terrible beauties than the filth, noise and pollution of everything that has gone before.
