Niche Shakespeare

This statue stands in a niche in the 'Wesley House' in the village. This used to be a Wesleyan chapel until it was changed into a private house. Apparently a local stonemason carved the statue allegedly of Shakespeare. It suffered damage in that the feet were broken off - how I know not. It was going to be binned but the then owners of the house reclaimed it and placed it in a niche that was the remains of a former window.

All of this is rather speculative as no-one seems to know for certain. The statue looks like it could be after a likeness of Shakespeare - but how this was obtained is most uncertain.
