First World War collage...
1) Telegram received by my mother's Grandmother on 24.10.1918 telling her that John, one of several sons serving on active duty in France, had been "admitted into no 2 Red Cross hospital, Rouen - severe shell gas poisoning";
2) Serving with the Royal Horse Artillery;
3) He recovered from his injuries sufficiently to return to active service, and was promoted to Lieutenant of the Royal Garrison Artillery on 18.08.1919.
He survived the War and lived to enjoy a successsful career as a teacher...
