Day 49

A national holiday: October 23rd. This Wednesday was the anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.

Everything shut down, and demonstrations and protests were abound. The program took us to Memento Park, located way up in Buda, to see the collection of Communist-Era statues. Some of them were absolutely massive, and it was a beautiful day outside. I rather enjoyed learning about the statues, so I stuck next to our program coordinator and she provided a ton of information (which was not to be found anywhere around the park itself).

After many transfers on public transportation, Caelie and I split off from the group, bought a chimney cake, and walked around to enjoy the day off.

(Snagged this photo from Caelie's camera.)
