J G Groat 1904 - 1942

Took my annual trip to Princes St and the Garden of Remembrance to plant a cross in the soil to mark the passing of my uncle who was the Chief Officer of the SS Cape Corso when he went down in his ship off the Norwegian coast on the way to Murmansk as part of Convoy PQ-15. I was named for him all be it some 13 years later, my mum was very fond of her big brother.
