too little too late
Now that the canalside moorings of Edinburgh Quay are starting to get mildly busier you'd think that someone would pop along every now and then to inspect things and replace items such as the other two nearby buoyancy-aid-holding station things, currently missing their buoyancy aids. I'm not sure why these are sited across the path from the canal rather than right next to it, either. Luckily this one was handily placed in case anyone started drowning or experiencing difficulties in the large puddle of water forming due to the careless and wasteful behaviour of an operative of Prestige (Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Specialists) who had connected a hose to one of the outlets under the decking next to the canal, connected it to a hose extension reel which was leaking water next to the path and which terminated next to a van behind one of the offices, wastefully spraying water onto the concrete for no apparent reason. The tap lacked a handle so couldn't be turned off or on without some form of spanner. The operative wasn't visible but there was a number on the van which I called. Despite the office being in Glasgow the water was switched off within a minute of making the call though I hadn't seen who'd done it as I'd wandered onwards and crossed at the lift bridge, astonishingly active for once to allow a narrowboat beneath.
