A Blue sort of a day.............
I just couldn't lose the Blue cast to this image no matter what i did with the white balance settings in the camera, but to be honest the view was just Blue.........
No clear sunshine about, the cloud were drifting across as if someone had pulled on their handbrake, virtually no movement at all......but at least the rain had stopped.......
This is a Blue view from Portsdown Hill, looking across to Portsmouth, the large Grey building in the foreground belongs to Naiad Dynamics, formerly Vosper Thorney Croft. They're in the marine engineering business, developing stabilization systems for anything from a yacht, to a war ship.
Just above that building you can just about make out Porchester Castle nestling in amongst the trees, there are some very old trees around the Castle but none dating back to the late 3rd century when the castle was built. To the left of the castle, but within the castle grounds is the Parish Church of St Mary's, a Norman built church dating back to the year 1120.
Beyond the church and to the left of the harbour mouth is the City of Portsmouth, while to the right is the peninsula that is home to Gosport. Both Portsmouth and Gosport have more than enough museums and visitor attraction to keep you occupied for weeks.........
The harbour opens out into The Solent, which is home to The Isle of Wight, furthest land mass in the image, with the most famous of the Solent forts, Spitbank Fort clearly visible to the left of the Spinnaker tower.
No doubt the blue cast will lift as the day goes by and the Sun puts in an appearance, and this view will miraculously change. But as this is November, and winter is just around the corner, i think we're in for a lot more Blue days.
