dropped in for breakfast
Jumped out of bed this morning (much quicker than normal) to the news that a bird of prey was on the back lawn.
In a bit of a daze I ran downstairs collecting camera changing the lens on the way to carefully opening the study window. It was still quite dark and the high ISO means the results are a bit grainy.
This female Sparrowhawk had helped herself to a pigeon (that had been fattening up on my bird seed) As you can see, her crop is full by the time I got to the scene.
I have to say it looked like a bit of a messy breafast and I have spared some of the more gory shots but that is nature.
The sparrowhawk was continually looking around as the small birds were calling for all their worth and then the wood pigeons previously close companion started to dive bomb the raptor.
too much excitement too early !!
