Sheep's Head Way 10 : Durrus to Barnagheehy
We're all walking lightly
Let this moment last
Could be gone so fast
Keep walking lightly
After four days of grey, gloom and rain the sun came out - it was warm, it was lovely - we headed out on the penultimate stretch of the Sheep's Head way. A tough one, especially after all the rain, for most of the terrain was very boggy and treacherous. After walking along the old Creamery road we then headed up into the hills, meeting a friend bouncing up in his car and a man digging drains who wanted to know if we would like an turf - he had some from the Bog of Allen going. We said we would, he said he'd find us. That was the last human contact for several hours as we squelched through fields thick with bog grass, jumped over little streams, wend our way up old green ways, skirted the edge of a rather sinister looking forest, admired frisky sheep with long fat tails, ate cheese and apples on a stile and stopped at the summit to admire amazing views all round. The colours were intense, burnt oranges and emerald greens. Very satisfactory.
ArtHouse tonight - chips, a glass of something refreshing then a Danish comedy starring Pierce Brosnan 'Love is All you Need'.
