Our Colleagues...

I was just leaving St Andrews House at lunchtime today when I saw this. I had read earlier that morning - in the Permanent Secretary's blog - about the Remembrance Day wreath laying on Sunday but the inscription at the top of the plaque struck me as making the whole thing very personal and immediate , as it must have been at the time.

"Our colleagues" was just what they were . People with whom those left behind had worked in this very building. People who did not come back.
