Our mule train

Hiked over Salkantay pass today, 15,300 ft. Freezing rain and snow.
We had 10 mules, 2 wranglers, 2 cooks, 1 hospital horse to carry emergency equipment, 2 other horses for medical evac behind us incase someone had an accident, 2 liters of water per person and carried 25 lb packs...
All 7 of us girls made it with the expert guidance of our Quechua guide David. Camped at 13,000 on the other side next a 10x15 stone hut with a mud/brush roof, Quechua friends of David's who let us use their 'kitchen' & 'toilet'. Edgar the cook produced a gourmet incredible dinner by the light of his head lamp and we ate in the alpaca barn. It was 30 degrees that night and was a bit chilly in my tent.
