Portrait of Jane
The Camera School module this month is an indoor portrait.
Our book-keeper, Jane, very kindly agreed to be my model. She's a good girl, and a nice person. She's also very natural and relaxed which is exactly what I wanted. I have cropped this and converted to mono (cream-tone) especially for blip.
The module requirements are:
Shoot in colour JPEG mode
Set white balance to auto
Find a suitable location & props
Switch to AV (aperture-priority) mode and set aperture to 5.6
Zoom your lens in to its longest length
Set ISO between 1600-3200
Select Matrix/evaluative metering mode
Select the AF point nearest to the eyes
Use a reflector if necessary
The requirement was for an indoor shot of a single person, using only window light. Strong eye contact. Composition so that the portrait is waist-level. Clean background and focus on the eyes, or the eye nearest to you. Ensure the subject is properly exposed, and the depth-of-field is shallow.
I think I did most of that.
