A Beautiful Green Cloud

Thorpe Cloud, the boldly shaped and steep hill which guards the southern end of Dovedale, seen from near the village of Thorpe on a lovely circular walk from Ashbourne.
Not long before this spot we had witnessed one of the great mismatches in the animal kingdom. A hare had lain in the grass until I almost stepped on it and then shot off - Jackson, bless him, started to give chase and like a very good boy laid down when shouted to! Not that he had any chance of catching the hare which was still running 2 fields away! It may or may not have realised that it attracted the attention of a circling buzzard which folded its wings back and swooped down but pulled up before getting into striking range.
How exciting!
