The Great Wall
This retaining wall is known as the 'Great Wall of Tod'.
It runs alongside the Rochdale Canal in Todmorden. It was built c.1870 to support the Manchester and Leeds Railway (later the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway) as it entered Todmorden from Lancashire.
It was a massive feat of engineering and consists of over 4 million bricks.
This shows the wall being constructed.
