Emergency calls only...
Spent a good hour on the phone to the house insurance folk. I happened to open a letter from them (unusual- there are lots of official looking letters as yet unopened) and read that they were 'thanking us for choosing them to insure the house and the first direct debit would come out on the 20th!' Er, NO! I did not agree to this.
When I say 'phone' I mean mobile phone, because the landline was disconnected and the workmen couldn't put it back in working order. But every time I dialled a number, the mobile would come up with the legend, 'Emergency Calls only'... Well, any call was an emergency, as the landline was kaput.
Long waits with raucous muzak- my idea of fun. I still have to go outside to use the mobile, but the landline's working again.
My workmen did more plastering - hope it's dry tomorrow so that they can sand it. More dust. But it's taking shape. And what a lot of cleaning to be done. A layer of dust on everything, except the rooms that have been sealed.
But... a wee parcel arrived. So much has been ordered online recently, that I've forgotten, so it's like Christmas. This wee parcel contained a cheap (£19.99) wide angle/macro lens. I went down to the Meadows for a test run. I was very pleased with both lenses!
I took photos of some young people throwing and catching frisbees.
I took photos of a huge dog (Hugo).
I spoke to three lads who were doing a wee experiment with tin cans and twigs to boil water (used to have one in NZ - a Thermette - you could boil water with a couple of twigs, great for camping).
I heard the lovely tones of a saxophone and hotfooted it in that direction. Just as I got near him, he packed up and moved off.
I took a photo of my favourite car side-on, a Figaro, and got it all in while I was standing on the pavement!!
I had such fun for an hour or so - all because of looking for a blip. Oh, and the fact that my workmen had the local radio on full blast, so I HAD to go out. Drove me bonkers!
