Sunrise from M1

On the way back up the M1 from an inspiring anti-poverty conference in London's East End on a day heralded by this magnificent sunrise.

A coach load of colleagues from the Birmingham Diocese groggily boarded the coach at 6.45am clutching much-needed caffeine-loaded coffee supplies.

Got to Stratford Town Hall just after 10.15 for five hours of mind-stretching contributions from, among others, Archbishop Justin and Labour peer Lord Glasman.

Learned about asset-based community development, the bankruptcy of the dehumanised target-driven market-dominated top-down political and economic system we've endured since 1979 and the inspiring counter alternative that treasures people as assets not needs, victors not victims. 'Behold, I'm doing a new thing...'
