Elizabeth Barratt Browning Reflections ...

I loved this huge brass doorknob on the enormous door of the home of Elizabeth Barrett Browning Casa Guidi near the Boboli Gardens. It was a special visit as J's great , great ( not sure how many greats) grandmother lived in the flat above the Brownings. We recently found an out of print book of letters from Elizabeth to J's ancestor which was so interesting for his mother to read . Sadly all the letters to Elizabeth were destroyed after her death by her husband - or so says the book.
I wonder what their lives were like, all these years before us and how these experiences have shaped future generations.
Tonight I have been speaking about seaweed and skincare to the WRI nearby . Maybe a talk on the wonderful experience of Florence would have been more engaging !
