Lions

We went to a special preview of the new "Predators of the Serengeti" exhibit at the zoo, which turned out not to be the best idea. The kids were excited about it (this photo was snapped at the beginning when everyone's spirits were still high) and the exhibit itself was really interesting, including lions, cheetahs, hyenas, a python, etc.

But.

It was 90+ degrees.

It was a looooong walk from the zoo entrance to the new exhibit.

A had a full school day prior to this little jaunt.

E had no nap.

I really should have been able to forecast the meltdowns that occurred (1 each, thank you very much). Thanks to my mom's presence (my amazing, calm, helpful, patient, incredible mom) and a well-placed Sno-Kone booth, we survived intact and I think the kids will remember the experience fondly overall. But I learned, or perhaps relearned, some lessons about timing one's adventures with kids.

Nonetheless, cute pic of A and E next to a lion cub statue that they both thought was adorable.

Here's to a low-key weekend!
