Project Utensil Detail #3 ...

This is the project plan:

I'll publish 4 details of an utensil - which is an old utensil I found long ago in a dilapidated barn abroad - and with the 4th detail you can see in the same picture the complete utensil.

In this detail you see the top of the rear left side with one of the two hinges which the lid opens and closes. You may guess of course and I give you also the detail in full color.

Moreover, I also give some hints on finding what utensil is meant.

- In detail #1 you see a part of the grip. But beware, that is photographed from the front!
- In detail #2 you see the mechanism that opens or closes the cover/lid.
- In detail #3 you see the cover/lid attached to the left rear hinge (above).
- In the object a hot, non-liquid substance is used.
- Although it's old, the name is the same for the modern version we use today.
- The modern version is found in almost every household.

From previous guesses: it's not a spade nor a pitchfork, the lock of a clock or an anchor.
