Welsh Back Granary

Walked Floss into town as I had to drop the 800E in at LCE for a sensor-clean in advance of a wedding next week. On the way back it was that lovely bit of pre-dusk where buildings are still well lit by the fading daylight but have their internal lights on too, and some of the streetlamps are lighting up. We took the long way home, through Queen's Square (Floss liked the autumn leaves) and on to Welsh Back, from where this shot is taken.

This, the Welsh Back Granary building, is the best remaining example of Bristol Byzantine architecture anywhere in the city. There are other buildings round about with some details and hints of the style, a mix of Venetian and Moorish, but when they built this one they really turned the knob right up to 11. Built in 1869 as a grain warehouse, it's quite amazing and very difficult to do justice in a single photo.
