My Mini Adventure

Be an archaeologist!

Open morning at school/work this morning... The idea is that the visiting children and their parents are given a tour of the school by Year 6 pupils and take part in various activities set up in each classroom (assisted by some Year 5 pupils) whilst their parents chat to the staff in each room about the school.

This is a photo of one of the History activities that I was responsible for today: the "archaeological dig". Various historical artefacts were buried and the children dig them up, brush them off and take them over to an identification area to find out more about their discovery. Items included a Roman strigil, Greek and Roman coins, a Celtic torc, an Egyptian spinning top and many more!

As usual it was a great hit... you just can't beat digging about in sand!

N said my photo looks like a cake!
