The Sand is Back

Rosemarkie Beach

Last winter there was a fierce storm and a lot of the sand on the beach was washed away. The footpath running between the Fortrose Golf Course and Chanonry Beach was also partially washed away. Whilst it was possible to repair the footpath the missing sand was another matter. An elderly resident of the village said that all the sand was just sitting in the Firth waiting for another strong wind blowing in from the opposite direction to bring it all back. I didn't believe him, but he was right. He had lived in Rosemarkie all his life and no doubt had seen it happen many times.

I am really pleased, it means that, when we now walk on the beach Buddy doesn't get so wet as he can walk on nice dry sand. Poppy always goes in for a swim, regardless of the weather but one shake and her coat is dry.

The picture is taken from the footpath, if you look hard enough you can just make out Poppy walking back onto the path.

It was a glorious morning.
