St Peters, Heysham

The tiny church of St Peter's in Heysham is perched on a cliffside overlooking Morecambe Bay and the Lake District beyond. This Grade I listed building is first documented in 1080 but it was already built in the 9/10th century. There are remains some of the Anglo-Saxon building from around 800AD but most of the present building dates from the 14thC and from around 1500. The photograph shows the oldest surviving area of the church (although the window is a later Victorian addition).
