Our Little Helper

It turned out to be a pretty nice day here. Not much sun, but a nice temperature...50F (10 C.) We figured...even with having Merrick...that we better get outside, and pick up the rest of our leaves. Before they are covered with snow.

You do the math. There were 3 of us...with only 2 leaf rakes. So, most of the time Merrick was using his tiny snow shovel to scoop the leaves onto our tarp.

We finally got a big enough pile that he could get in. He didn't dive in like we used to, but he was happy to burrow in, so that Grandma could cover him up with leaves. Nothing quite like a mouthful and face full of wet smelly Autumn leaves, and playing in them is a rite of passage.

My favorite part was when our daughter came to pick him up. We were picking up our neighbors leaves at the time. Merrick yelled across the yard..."Mama...I'm helping Pa-pa!" That touched my heartstrings.

Sometimes...it doesn't matter how MUCH you help...but just that you feel like you are doing your part...and he did.

Like my wife says..."So cute."
