Kardos on Candor

Josef Kardos' stand-up "Birthday Comedy Show" was downright brilliant tonight. He went on for over an hour, changing into about seven characters. He speaks fast and smart. I'd heard him compared to Robin Williams, but this was the first time I've seen one of his shows.

I've mentioned Josef in a few previous blips. This one comes to mind now because in one character tonight he described how he'd been diagnosed with candor --a disease which forces the patient to say what is actually on his mind. That segment was very touching to everyone in the audience.

Josef is half-Chinese and 100% Jewish. All the skits were set in Chinatown, including where Shlomo Wu chides his son Marvin Wu at the latter's Bar Mitzvah. Now that was funny.
