Destruction

It's taken a while, but for the first time today I took a drive through some of the bushfire ravaged areas of the Upper Blue Mountains. I drove the length of the Darling Causeway to Bell, and back to Mount Victoria, and also up Mount York Road in Mount Victoria.

This image is of the almost total destruction of the bush in the gully below Berghofer Drive, a dirt road which runs through the bush from the top of the Berghofer Pass track, just off the Mount York road up to St Georges Parade, where a number of properties were destroyed. The ferocity of the fire racing up that gully towards homes, then over the top of the hill must have been frightening on that Thursday afternoon. However we know it could have been so much worse.
