Changing face of the High Street - 2
A few weeks ago, I uploaded a photograph of a long-standing Crieff High Street institution, Frank Thomson's.. The business is up for sale and its such an integral part of Crieff, there's a certain amount of worry in the town about what the future holds.
Further along the High Street and cornering on to James Square, is another Crieff institution, Valentine's. The shop extends a lot further down West High Street than I can show you in this picture plus for most of its length there is also an upstairs floor so it is a fair size of place and a major player on the High Street. They stock labels like Barbour, Joules, duBarry, very trad menswear & various other similar things. It has been in existence since 1925 and has lately revamped its signage with a little help from a pot of money the Council has for such works.
The new signage looks great. The consensus is that they now need to do some work on their window displays!! However, with the owners committing money to the look of the place, there's a certain satisfaction in knowing that for the meantime, at least this place is safe :-)
