OPTICAL ILLUSION

In the Karoo with its vast open plains, clouds with the sun shining through here and there, can produce the most stunning light effects.
This image could be of the sea. In pre-historic times this was a vast tract of water. The deep cloud shadow has produced the illusion of an ocean with distant mountains, not unlike False Bay, in the Cape Peninsula.
