Porty People and Places

As a consequence of last night's Chopin Circle event we were informed of this Polish Scottish Cultural Association event taking place on Causewayside this afternoon. It was a highly informative event that reminded us of so many links between Scotland and Poland and the enormity of the Polish army's role in protecting Scotland from a potential Nazi invasion launched from Norway. The Polish army wore British Army Uniforms but had Poland badges on both shoulders. These badges were in demand by British soldiers who used them to make the Scottish girls think they were gallant and dashing Polish men having seen how effective their Polish compatriots were when it came to winning the attentions of the local lasses!

The exhibition was held in a studio at the top of this narrow stair and as we left I blipped the view of Arthur's Seat through the old tenement window.
