South Cave

Ann and Emma and I (and Dylan) drove (well I didn’t drive, still being banned) to South Cave in East Yorkshire a few miles from Hull to visit my mother at her care home.

We went to Drewton’s first, a farm shop and restaurant just outside South Cave where we met my sister, Beryl, for lunch.

My mother looked quite frail, having recently having a chest infection. She recognised us, but found it difficult to speak. Regardless it was lovely to see her and Beryl before driving home.

The combination of old age, illness and Alzheimer’s is a cruel thing, and makes me incredibly sad, I can only hope that with her short term memory loss, she is not suffering too much. She certainly looked peaceful when we left her in her room.
