fortune

went to the used bookstore today and in a $1.00 book that was once owed by the Fort Worth Japanese Society (their stamp was inside on the front page), these duplicate fortunes fell out. They looked really old (the book was old too), not like the kind of fortunes you would get today. These almost looked typewritten, like from a typewriter (they weren't), but the paper was thin and delicate and somehow seemed more carefully constructed, more thoughtfully composed. Hard to explain, I guess. But what I do know is the last time we got fortune cookies I didn't think so much about the paper they were on. Nowadays, though, it seems like I have much more to think about in general. Always thinking. Even more so than before. If that's even possible. It is, it isn't.
