Car wash
After yesterday's test return to driving, today brought yet another milestone: I hosted the Music Group for the first time since May. Thanks to Carl last night, I didn't have to bother with any heavy work like furniture shifting and hoovering, and there was was very little left to do this morning in terms of final preparations. So, rather the usual last-minute rush to get the place ready, I was all set well in advance.
We were joined today by a new recruit, attending a session for the first time. I was delighted for his sake that things went so well. Indeed, it turned into one of the best, most relaxed, funnest sessions in a long time, with lots of banter and wiescracks and laughter as well as some great music. My personal thunder was stolen by David, though, who was in charge of the presentation for the final thirty minutes and chose the same piece which I'd planned using for this slot when it's my turn in two weeks. Ah well, fortunately there's lots more music out there ready and waiting.
A select few of us retired to the local hostelry afterwards. Looking across the road at the car wash opposite made out thoughts turn to Roy, one of our number who more often than not combines music sessions in my place with a wash for his car. He's away on holiday right now, though, so the hard-working guys had to make do without him as a customer.
The weekend was earmarked for work once the music gang were gone, but I'm afraid I just couldn't summon up the necessary get-up-and-go. Instead, I played a bit with my new iMac (its 24" display was just crying out for viewing of some movie trailers and such). Apart from that, I listened to some more music, watched a bit of telly, had a bite to eat, and went for my daily walk. The evening sun was still pleasant, even if it's getting noticeably lower much earlier these days. I didn't venture too far afield; just a brisk walk around a few local blocks, but it was very pleasant all the same.
