inset day

Today was our inset day and we got to go to town in school hours when it was nice and quiet, and the christmas market was there so the nut was looking forward to it a lot.
The galloping horses were shut and so was the paint your mug place and the bus driver embezzled us so it was going a little wrong so I went to forbidden planet because I knew they had an actual real Dr Who prop Dalek in there.
'Is it real?' asked my opened mouthed offspring 'yes' I replied 'is it alive??' He asks 'No' I say 'it has no dalek brain inside. it's probably off eating peoples throats'
and he nods in a philosophical manner. i let him buy a galactic hero figure for 2 quid to justify the amount of time we were there. I fooled no one.
Then we rode galloping horses (now open) and went to the playground; then we went to costa (the 'proper' coffee shop, apparently starbucks is merely an impostor) then we went round the christmas market and the nut bought a little wooden frog.
Then i refused to buy a cuddly lightsabre at the bear factory, but he looked sad and besides, it would look awfully nice with cuddly darth vader pig. then we went to look at the new nano-bugs in the toy shop, they go up tubes you know.

the nuts christmas list was: one cuddly Han Solo bird, one yellow cuddly dalek that talks, on set of robot bugs that levitate, one blue robot bug that levitates. The we went o see a bus inspector to get a free ride home because we got two singles instead of one return, No Idea how, Mr nut still travels for free and I asked for a return :/

We stopped off at the pet shop to get some mealworms for our dead kestrel we found yesterday. An old lady mistook us for someone else and got told we had a bag of worms to eat a dead kestrel. lucky her. Then the nut spent the rest of the day in a state of exulted joy having lightsabre fights and watching operation ouch. He was particularly anxious to draw in his school scrapbook. he drew the most amazing picture of a dalek in a glass case. And then he drew another dalek that was coming to recue it.

It's wrong to keep daleks in captivity. '
