At Symonds Yat: Bracken fonds.......x

An autumnal sight almost unchanged in 55 million years. Bracken a super plant. Ive blipped it before. I see it, and I think of Fox Talbots, bracken shadowy calotype prints. Bracken relates to every visual art. Its linear graphical fonds lent itself to the history of art since time began.

Its been around for ever. I kind of admire that. Its defended itself into permanent residence. Toxic to most animals, its a super plant. Its causes cancer in humans, spraying out toxic spores when trampled or tampered with. Bracken doesn't die back in winter. It recharges its roots. The beautiful fonds changing from green, illuminous yellow to curling brown fonds. A prehistoric set piece.

We walked through Symonds Yat forest. A brief time, absorbing the wet, damp but very autumnal wood. Not a wild boar in sight today, I guess they are easily camouflaged by the bracken......x
