Glasgow Roots
Before heading for the leisure centre I took a walk in Bellahouston Park hoping to 'catch' a blip. I was looking for the perfect Autumn view but instead found The Glasgow Roots stones in what had been the basement of the original Dumbreck House and leading all the way down to Paisley Road West. The stones are so interesting but unfortunately are not in the best state of repair. Some of the information panels have been removed or fallen off, others are difficult to read (discoloured with vegetation). We have such a great heritage but don't always look after it.
On the Singer stone we can read -
' Since the erection of so many steam engines the atmosphere, in particular of the city and the suburbs has been clouded by smoke to an extent formerly unknown'
