Chiloe Wigeon............
Only too pleased to get away from work this morning, treated myself to a bacon sandwich from "Mick's Monster Burger" van up on Portsdown Hill, washed down with a hot cup of tea........
Ventured over to West Ashling, which is about half way between Havant and Chichester. My last visit has to be well over a year ago, this morning i found only a hand full of ducks, amongst them was this Wigeon, which is a bit of a rarity, possibly an escapee from a private colection somewhere.
This duck is indigenous to the southern part of South America, where it is found on freshwater lakes, marshes, shallow lagoons and slow flowing rivers. Vagrants have been observed in South Georgia, South Orkney and the South Shetland Islands.
I usually wear shorts to work as i wear overalls while i'm in the factory, sitting on the bench by the pond this morning my little legs were almost turning blue with the cold, note to self:- if you're going out with your camera takes some trousers.
