Time for reflection

A bit of drama in the early hours, caused by the high-dependency patient in the bed next to mine taking a fall on the way back from the toilet. A nurse was supposed to be keeping a constant eye on him, but he'd been left unattended. Now nurse after nurse after nurse came running to tend to him. Fortunately he didn't seem to be seriously hurt, but I couldn't help feeling that there'd be a lot of reports filled out, corners to be covered, and litigation to be avoided.

After breakfast and blood sample and tablets and cup of tea and a bit of a chat with a couple of the likely ward lads, I set off once again for the long walk to the great outdoors. Glorious weather! Temperatures were forecast to reach 27º, and it certainly felt very pleasant, and maybe even a bit hot on the old bald head. Beaumont isn't such a bad place to be if you're able to get out into the open (and I was delighted to find this opportunity of indulging in one of my favourite blipportunities: reflections!).

After that, the afternoon went slowly and boringly. Time dragged on, helped by deciding to give Charlotte Gray another chance (okay, but not exactly wonderful, and the two young boys weren't the best). I was was back outside sitting on a bench when I saw Carl walking towards the entrance and managed to intercept him. He'd brought some stuff as requested, along with some more DVDs. We sat and chatted, he got me a coffee from one of the machines, and we went down to the ward.

Great news when we got there was that Mr Looper was being moved 'to be closer to the nurses' station'. He was replaced by another guy in a very posh bed (who coincidentally happened to know the guy in the bed directly opposite him). The big thing, though, was that The Looper is out of our hair, so we should get a good night's sleep tonight at least. Carl hung on a bit, and wasn't long gone when more visitors arrived. They left at 8.00 and I watched Thelma and Louise, one of Carl's new batch of DVDs, and still as enjoyable as ever. That brought me up to 10.30 and time to roll over and get some sleep.
