Another great day, rising at sunrise and out walking along the lake. The vapours rising off the water made the lake look like milk. There was no sign of the mountains behind until suddenly, there they were, hanging in the sky way above. Then I turned off into the backsides of this touristy area and watched the vegetable sellers with their barrows of fresh produce. The hotel cooks were out with their lists, faithfully recording prices beside each purchase. This boy was bouncing a ball and did a few cartwheels and somersaults in the air for me and I was asked to take a photo of a man with his old mother. She was very stiff and formal but they invited me into the garden to see their tigers - these turned out to be two week old puppies, all snuggled up together in a box. The bitch was not happy to see me and gave me an evil eye. The old lady laughed at all the photos I took but went all solemn again when I took more so I asked her to smile. This made her laugh and her toothless old face was a picture and we laughed together till the tears ran down both our faces. There were long lines at the polling station in a school but I was imperiously waved away when I showed my camera so have no record. There have been no vehicles or motorbikes allowed on the roads today so very pleasant for walking.

The laughing lady is here somewhere...
