A member of Parliament

A Parliament of Rooks is one of the collective nouns with which the bird is associated. A sub-committee of about 50 were grubbing for food in the grassland next to the steamer dock at Glenridding on Ullswater. The beak is ideal for this purpose. There are a lot of rooks in Cumbria. They nest in Rookeries and are extremely noisy at that time. Today, on a frosty afternoon they were silent as they foraged.
