Ohne Vorkenntnisse

I love my work at the university, particularly the course I teach on a Tuesday afternoon which is entitled 'Englisch Starterkurs; ohne Vorkenntnisse' and is for those with either absolutely no prior knowledge of English or very little.
I always have great fun teaching this course; the coursebook (pictured) is hilarious (although I'm sure it's not meant to be - it follows married couple 'Lara'[German] and 'Rob' [British] on their trip to the Lake District where Lara is all set to run a marathon. Thrilling stuff! ) and there's lots of scope for role-play and alternative learning methods.

This semester I have a great group including students from Mauritania; Mongolia, Peru, Cameroon and Georgia. An interesting mixture.

Part of the lesson today was about colours. Confusion and hilarity arose when one student asked another what colour her pants were* - not knowing there is a distinct difference between the meaning of "pants" in British English and that of "pants" in American English.

Tomorrow I have my classes at the school; we're cooking next week (something British) so tomorrow we have to choose a recipe and then go shopping!!! Help!
