Blowin' in the wind
A sign 'Lady's Well' got herself excited and she led me on foot up a small lane. "It won't be far..."
Expecting a long trek (I've heard that one before) we set off up and down and around a small lane but couldn't find a holy well, although there was plenty of water about.
On the way back, a driver stopped and we asked for directions. After extracting the required information about where we were from, who we knew and how many degrees of separation there were between us, which we are well used to by now, he told us how to find the well.
Around the bend where we had given up before, we came upon this strange sight - some well-washed Long Johns and associated undergarments drying in the wind outside this very run-down farmhouse. The front door was open and there was a chair just inside as if someone had been recently sitting there - we didn't linger in case these were the only pair he owned (you may be able to imagine the gist of my thinking here).
We did find the well eventually but it was slightly less interesting than this scene, in my opinion.
