Entrapment
As on the late shift tonight was up early to enjoy a beautiful dawn, catch the softer morning light and hopefully obtain a blip. Managed to tuck away a few images on the memory card content one would surface from the cull.
Not to be. Was enjoying a wine on back verandah at dusk. By pure chance I noticed the frantic struggle of a Christmas beetle freshly snared in the web of the deadly Red Back Spider under the table. In spite of the huge difference in size it was a totally uneven match.
Although having a very diffuse web with no real pattern, it is very sticky and this tiny but very distinctive spider has a potent venom.
This little fellow was very busy and between his dashing about binding his prey and the struggle of the beetle there was lots of movement. Unlike the reflection of the sun on the stationary wind chimes this morning.
Subsequently I took many snaps of this life and death drama as it was difficult to focus. I believe the above captures all the elements I have attempted to paint in words and so became my blip for today.
