Sharpenhoe Clappers

It's good to get away from my own patch sometimes, but I wish I'd chosen a better day. I was visiting the eastern end of the Chiltern Hills. After a very wet and cold circuit of the Sundon Hills and Moleskin, the climb up the steepest slope of the Clappers nearly finished me off. Then the rain stopped and blue sky even appeared over to the west as we walked through the superb beech hanger to the banks of the Iron Age hill-fort. Along one of the old banks there is this wonderful line of old beech trees. A great walk...for the summer!
