This is an ex-pigeon...

... it 'as ceased to be!*

I had a brief look at all the animal bone from the castle, to see if there's enough there for a decent report. Probably. Even if some of the assemblage is undeniably modern, like this pigeon's tarsometatarsus, complete with ring; obviously a racing bird.
No idea why it didn't make it home, perhaps it just got lost, or bored, or confused, or it may have been taken by a peregrine falcon as it flew down the Sound of Mull.

*Yes, I'm pleased to see that Monty Python will reform, though I'm a bit worried that it might end up being a little disappointing. We'll see!
