Iris unguicularis
'Jim Archibald was a freelance plant hunter and seedsman who travelled throughout the world collecting specimens' (The Telegraph 23/8/2010)
He was also a very good friend of Dr Tom Mitchell, 21st century explorer, founder of Evolution Plants and my boss.
Iris unguicularis was a gift to Tom, from one of Jims trips to Northern Africa. The flowers, with their subtle fragrance, will be visible throughout winter, providing stunning colour and intricate detail to those few people that know of its whereabouts in the nursery.
This is such an exquisite flower we think it is perfect for the first Evolution Plants Christmas card.
