Snow skies
Well the snow did arrive as predicted and it was cold and bright and beautiful, heralding the start of winter for sure. It could be a long one. It's only mid November after all and I remember it being pretty darn cold in the first few weeks of my littlest's life, all the way through in April.
I felt mean on the way up to school this morning. We were running late anyway and then I couldn't find the raincover for the buggy so we were really pushing it for getting to school on time and had zero minutes for kicking around in the snow. "Keep to the path" I kept shouting. "Don't kick about in the thicker snow, your feet will get wet (why were they not wearing their new snow boots? I have no idea) and they will get cold and it'll be miserable all day", "There will be plenty more of this to come. It could be a long cold winter." "Come on, stop throwing snow balls, we'll be late." "GET UP, out of the snow!!!".
To be honest it all falls on deaf ears when you are talking about the first snow of the season and two energetic and enthusiastic boys. And if I take my mother hat off for a minute I would be inclined to say "and so it should".
We arrived at school at 9.10am. The receptionist very kindly let the boys in without late cards. "Come on in. We're not giving them out today because of the weather" she said.
She'll not be saying that come March.
