A Tough Day
It was a long hard day today at Wombat Hollow. To ensure the house is safe in the event of bush fires it's necessary to clear the natives that are growing very close to the house. It's always a tough decision but a necessary step that has to be taken every few years. Steve and his team worked for tirelessly for over 7 hours to clear the vegetation and the final step was to put the foliage through a chipper. The image shows the last step in the process as the chipper discharges the mulch onto a huge pile. This will be used as mulch and will put a lot of nutrients back into the soil. The bush does recover but it's a tough call all the same. The birds stayed away today, it was just too noisy! We've made sure there's lots of water in the bird baths and when everything is back to it's beautiful serene self they will return larger than life. We made sure we left lots of vegetation for them to enjoy.
